Michael Dessen, MAPA, MPA. B. Sc (U.N.S.W), M.App. Sc(Manip.Physio)(Syd.)
Michael graduated from the University of NSW with a Bachelor of Science (Major in Anatomy) in 1979. Following completion of the Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy at Cumberland College of Health Sciences in Lidcombe in 1980, Michael gained experience in the public hospital system and in private practice.

Kathryn Barry, MAPA, MPA B.App.Sc(Physio), M.App.Sc.(Manip.Physio)(Syd.)
Kathryn graduated as a physiotherapist from Cumberland College of Health Sciences in 1984 and spent time working in the public health sector at Royal South Sydney Hospital, Griffith Base Hospital and Royal Hospital for Women, Paddington.

Grant Shaw, MAPA BSc(Anatomy &Physiology), BAppSc(Physiotherapy) (Syd.)
Grant graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science (double major in Anatomy and Physiology) in 1992 followed by a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy (with distinction) in 1996.


About Us
Our principal expert physiotherapists, Michael Dessen & Kathryn Barry, have completed Under-Graduate, Post-Graduate & Masters level university degrees in their specialised area – Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
Michael and Kathryn have teaching & research experience & more than 26 years of clinical experience each. They continue to develop & share their professional expertise & they are “gold” members of the Australian Physiotherapy Association & members of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Australia. They use advanced clinical assessment & diagnoses methods, have been trained in the broadest range of treatment techniques & as a result are in the best position to help you .. FAST!
Grant has had almost a decade of experience in the public health system and has worked at Concord and Hornsby Hospitals. This experience has included roles as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Head of Department and Clinical Educator for many musculoskeletal physiotherapy student placements for the University of Sydney.
Grant has also worked in a number of private practices and has been involved with providing physiotherapy services for a variety of sporting events and teams including netball, rugby, wheelchair basketball, disabled athletics, Tae kwon do, elite swimming, triathlon and distance running.
Grant has comprehensive skills in the management of spinal and sports injuries and uses western acupuncture and dry needling techniques. He also has a special interest in the treatment of cycling injuries and has cycled competitively for over 23 years.
Our practice is located in the heart of Castle Hill (a short walk from Castle Mall shopping centre). There are parking facilities under the premises, as well as plenty of parking on neighbouring streets.
